Lesson 84: 〜としても

Usage:

Sentence + としても

Meaning:

「〜としても」means “even though…”.

Example Sentences:

（1）両親が反対だとしても、私は彼と結婚したい。
I want to marry him even though my parents are against me.

（2）たとえ不合格だとしても、努力は無駄にはならない。
Your effort will not be in vain even though you failed the exam.

（3）彼はとてもいい人だとしても、私は彼を本当は信頼していない。
Even if he’s very nice, I don’t really trust him.

（4）仮に君の言い分が本当だとしても、それは言い訳にはならない。
Even if I grant that what you say is true, it is no excuse.

（5）たとえお金持ちだとしても、彼には金をやらない。
Even if I were rich, I wouldn’t give money to him.

（6）あなたの言う通りだとしても、私達はまだあなたの計画に賛成は出来ない。
Granting that you are right, we still can’t approve of your plan.

（7）あなたが正直だとしても、それはあなたの無罪を証明するものではない。
Granting that you are honest, that is no proof of your innocence.

（8）たとえ条件付きの妥協策だとしても、何も決めないよりはましだ。
A watered down compromise resolution is better than none at all.
