Lesson 2: 〜間(あいだ)に
Usage:

Verb(Dictionary Form, Negative Form)+ 間に
Te Form of Verb + いる + 間に
Noun + の + 間に
Meaning:
「〜間に」means “While…/during…”. |
Examples:
私がゲームをしている間に、彼女は出かけました。 She went out while I was playing games. 彼が寝ている間に、私はテレビをつけた。 I turned on TV while he was sleeping. |
Note:
Difference between 〜間 and 〜間に. 〜間: 〜間 is often used when you want to express that you do something for a long time while something is happening.You can not use momentary verb in the sentence. For example: 彼が寝ている間、私は出かけた。✖️ I went out while he was sleeping. 彼が寝ている間、私はずっとゲームをしていた。✔️ I was playing games while he was sleeping. 〜間に: 〜間に is often used when you want to express that you did something (momentary action)while something is happening. For example: 彼は寝ている間に、私はずっとゲームをしていた。✖️ I was playing games while he was sleeping. 彼は寝ている間に、私は出かけた。✔️ I went out while he was sleeping. |

I’m leaving a sample sentence on each grammar point I’ve learned, here’s for this one:
父が新聞を読んでいる間に、弟はくしゃみをした。
My little brother sneezed while my father was reading a newspaper.
Correct!
Is there a huge difference between 間 and 間に or are they pretty much interchangeable (most of the time)?
