Usage:

Te Form of Verb + ごらん


Meaning:

「〜てごらん」means “Please have a try…”.

Example Sentences:

(1)これ、食べてごらん。おいしいよ。
Please have a try. This is delicious.

(2)奥さんがいると仮定してごらん。
Imagine that you have a wife.

(3)彼に日本語が話せるかどうか聞いてごらん。
Ask him if he can speak Japanese.

(4)最初からもう一度やってごらん。
Try it again from the first.

(5)沈んでいく太陽を見てごらん。
Look at the setting sun.

(6)池にいるあの魚を見てごらんよ。
Look at those fish in the pond.

(7)世界地図を見てごらん。
Have a look at the world map.

(8)失敗したらもう一度やってごらん。
If you fail, try again!

(9)自分一人きりの状況を想像してごらん。
Imagine a situation where you are all alone.

(10)次に何をしたらいいか彼に尋ねてごらん。
Ask him what to do next.
