Usage:

Verb(Dictionary Form, Past Tense Form, Negative Form…) + くせに

Te Form of Verb + いる + くせに

イ-Adjective + くせに

ナ-Adjective + な + くせに

Noun + の +  くせに

 

Meaning:

Even though…

 

 

Examples:

かれはなんでもできるくせに、なにもしないなんて、しんじられない。

I can’t believe that he did nothing even though he can do anything.

 

かれはギターをけないくせに、けるふりをする。

Even though he can’t play the guitar, he pretends that he can.

 

っているくせに、なんでおしえてくれないの。

Why don’t you tell me even though you know it?

 

彼女かのじょはかわいいくせに、しんがないです。

She is not confident even though she is cute.

 

彼女かのじょげんなくせに、びょうのふりをしている。

Even though she’s fine, she’s pretending to be sick.

 

どものくせに、なまね。

Even though he is a kid, he is so bossy.

 

Notes:

1.often used to complain something.

2.The subject should be human being.

  1. I know that (な)のに means despite but I have trouble seeing the difference between that and くせに
