~せいで/せいだ/せいか

Usage:

Verb(Dictionary Form, Past Tense Form, Negative Form) + せいで/せいだ/せいか

Te Form of Verb + いる/いた + せいで/せいだ/せいか

イ-Adjective + せいで/せいだ/せいか

ナ-Adjective + な + せいで/せいだ/せいか

Noun + の + せいで/せいだ/せいか

 

Meaning:

because…(often used to blame someone/something.  Or to express your disappointment)

 

Examples:

かれのせいでわたしたちはけました。

We lost because of him.

 

れないくつさんしたせいであしいたい。

My feet hurt because I took a walk wearing shoes that I’m not used to wearing.

 

Notes:

1.~せいか is often used to say some reasons that you are uncertain.

2.~を~せいにする is often used to blame someone while it’s not his fault.

ぶん失敗しっぱいひとのせいにするな。

Don’t blame other people for your mistakes!
