Lesson 64: 〜てはならない


Te Form of Verb + waならない


「〜てwaならない」means “You can’t…”.
It’s used to stop somebody doing something.

Example Sentences:

You can’t give up your life.

You can’t change the rule.

You must not run in the school buildings.

Nationalism is not to be confused with patriotism.

You must not lose sight of your main object.

You must not confuse liberty with license.

Don’t anticipate your income.

You have to eat before you go.

You shouldn’t judge a man by his appearance.

You must not forget to check your paper before you hand it in.
