Lesson 46: 〜たばかりだ

Usage:

Past Tense Form of Verb + ばかりだ

Meaning:

「～たばかりだ」means “did something just now”.
You can use 「～たばかりです」too, it’s the polite form of 「～たばかりだ」.

Example Sentences:

（1）私は起きたばかりだ。
I got up just now.

（2）彼は来たばかりだ。
He came here just now.

（3）車輪には油を注したばかりだ。
I’ve just oiled the wheels.

（4）私は今着いたばかりだ。
I just arrived now.

（5）彼は事務所から帰ったばかりだ。
He has come back from the office.

（6）彼は中古車を買ったばかりです。
He has just bought a used car.

（7）彼の車は修理が終わったばかりです。
His car has just been repaired.

（8）彼は家を出て行ったばかりです。
He has just left home.

（9）彼はつい先月外国から帰ってきたばかりです。
He came back from abroad only last month.

（10）私は、テニスを始めたばかりです。
I’ve just started playing tennis.
