Lesson 72: 〜といえば

Usage:

Noun 1+ といえば、Noun 2…

Meaning:

「〜といえば」means “When it comes to N1, N2 is….”, “Speaking of N1, N2 is”.

Example Sentences:

（1）日本といえば、アニメを連想します。
I will think of anime when Japan is mentioned.

（2）彼らは大雨といえば洪水を連想した。
They always associated a heavy rain with flood.

（3）我々はダーウィンといえば進化論を想像する。
We associate Darwin with the theory of evolution.

（4）田中さんといえば、最近彼に会ったか。
Talking of Mr Tanaka, have you seen him lately?

（5）趣味といえば、私は野球が好きである。
Speaking of hobbies, I’m fond of baseball.

（6）辞書といえば、私はいろいろな辞書の恩恵を受けています。
Speaking of dictionaries, I have benefited from various kinds.

（7）音楽といえば、君はどんな音楽が好きなの。
Talking of music, what kind of music do you like?

（8）伊藤氏といえば、息子さんはどうなりましたか。
Talking of Mr Ito, what has become of his son?

（9）スポーツといえば、あなたはどんなスポーツをされますか。
Talking of sports, what sports do you play?

（10）シェークスピアといえば、あなたは彼の作品を読んだことがありますか。Talking of Shakespeare, have you ever read his work?
