Lesson 81: 〜とおり（に）/とおりの/どおり（に）/どおりの

Usage:

Verb(Dictionary Form, Past Tense Form) + とおり（に）/とおりの
Noun + の + とおり（に）/とおりの
Noun + どおり（に）/どおりの

Meaning:

「〜とおり（に）/とおりの/どおり（に）/どおりの」means “just as…”.

Example Sentences:

（1）おっしゃるとおりです。
What you said is right.

（2）彼は私の歌うとおりに歌った。
He sang the way I did.

（3）彼は私に言われたとおりにやった。
He did as I told him.

（4）自分の思うとおりにしなさい。
Just follow your heart.

（5）彼は私に、私が期待しているとおりのことを尋ねた。
He asked me what I expected.

（6）やっぱり、あなたは私の思ったとおりの人だった。
You’re just the kind of person I imagined you’d be.

（7）彼は文字どおりのばかだ。
He is a real fool.

（8）彼はその句の文字どおりの意味を説明した。
He explained the literal meaning of the phrase.

（9）持ち主はそのビルを希望どおりの値で売った。
The owner sold the building for what he wanted.

（10）説明書どおりにやってみたのですが、うまくいけないです。
I did just as the instruction states, but it doesn’t work.
