Lesson 79: 〜（や）〜といった

Usage:

Noun、Noun… + といった
Noun + や + Noun + といった

Meaning:

「〜（や）〜といった」means “…such as…”.

Example Sentences:

（1）アメリカ、日本、中国といった国に行きたいです。
I want to go to countries such as America, Japan and China.

（2）PS4やSwitchといったゲーム機がほしいです。
I want game consoles such as PS4 and Switch.

（3）世界で、鹿やムースやキジといった野性獣を狩ることは違法とする国が多い。
In many parts of the world it is illegal to shoot wild game such as deer, moose or pheasant.

（4）小説家や詩人といった物書きは、科学の進歩の恩恵をあまりうけていないように思われる。
Writers such as novelists and poets don’t seem to benefit much from the advance of science.

（5）私はニューヨーク、シカゴ、ボストンといったいくつかの都市を訪れた。
I visited cities such as New York, Chicago and Boston.

（6）より温暖な気候の中でゴルフやテニスといったスポーツを楽しもうとサンベルトへ引っ越す退職者も多い。
Many retired people move to the Sunbelt to enjoy sports such as golf or tennis in a milder climate.

（7）クモはそこで、チョウとかトンボといった小さな昆虫が罠にかかるのを待つ。
There the spider waits for small insects like butterflies and dragonflies to be trapped.

（8）「美しい」とか「醜い」といった言葉は相対的な用語である。
The words ‘beautiful’ and ‘ugly’ are relative terms.

（9）あやはホットピンクや電子ブルーや深紫といった激しい色が好きだ。
Aya likes intense colors, such as hot pink, electric blue and deep purple.

（10）彼女はモーツァルトやベートーヴェンといった古典派の作曲家が好きだ。
She likes composers from the classical period like Mozart and Beethoven.
