Lesson 70: 〜てよかった/なくてよかった

Usage:

Te Form of Verb + よかった
Negative Form of Verb(change ない to なく) + て + よかった

Meaning:

「〜てよかった/なくてよかった」means “It’s great that…”.

Example Sentences:

（1）お父さんの話を聞いてよかった。
It’s great that I followed what my father said.

（2）死ななくてよかった。
It’s great that I’m still alive.

（3）生きててよかった！
This is life!

（4）昇進されてよかったですね。
It’s great that you got the promotion.

（5）私はそこにいてよかった。
I’m glad I was there.

（6）お話しできてよかったです。
I have enjoyed talking to you.

（7）君が無事に戻ってきてよかった。
I am glad that you have returned safe.

（8）こんなものを買わなくてよかった。
I am glad I did not buy such a thing.

（9）お気に召してよかったです。
Glad you like it.

（10）ここで君に会えてよかった。
It was nice meeting you here.

Note:

よかった is the past tense form of いい, but it is used to express the current feeling of the speaker.
