Lesson 59: 〜てしかた（が）ない/てしょうがない

Usage:

①Te Form of Verb + しかた（が）ない/しょうがない
②i-Adj（drop the い in the end）+ くて + しかた（が）ない/しょうがない
③na-Adj + で + しかた（が）ない/しょうがない

Meaning:

「〜てしかた（が）ない/てしょうがない」means “very…”, it’s used to emphasize the emotion of the speaker.

Example Sentences:

（1）今年の夏は暑くてしかたがない。
It is unbearably hot this summer.

（2）彼女にもう一度会いたくてしかたがない。
I am dying to see her again.

（3）コーヒーが飲みたくて仕方がない。
I’m dying for a cup of coffee.

（4）彼女は可愛くてしょうがない。
She is very cute.

（5）今日は寒くてしょうがない。
It’s simply too cold today.

（6）今日は、もうだるくてしょうがない。
