Lesson 10: 〜ないうちに

Usage:

Negative Form of Verb + うちに

Meaning:

「〜ないうちに」means “Before…”.
（to do something before something happens）

Example Sentences:

（1）忘れないうちにメモしてください。
Please make a note before you forget it.

（2）両親が帰ってこないうちに、ゲームをやりましょう。
Let’s play games before my parents come back.

（3）彼は日が暮れないうちに山頂に到達した。
He attained the top of the mountain before dark.

（4）彼は食事が終わらないうちに立ち上がった。
He rose to his feet before the meal was over.

（5）年を取りすぎないうちにまた英国へ行きたい。
I wish to revisit England before I get too old.

（6）長いこと待たないうちに彼が到着した。
I had not waited long before he arrived.

（7）遅くならないうちに行きましょう。
Let’s beat it before it gets too late.

（8）知らないうちに、飛行機は着陸していた。
Before I knew it, the plane had landed.

（9）消防車が到着しないうちに、その家は丸焼けになった。
Before the fire engine arrived, the whole house was burnt down.

（10）暑くならないうちに出かけよう。
Let’s go out before it gets hot.
