Lesson 80: 〜てちょうだい

Usage:

Te Form of Verb + ちょうだい
Negative Form of Verb + でちょうだい


Meaning:

「Te Form of Verb + ちょうだい」means “Please…”.
「Negative Form of Verb + でちょうだい」means “Please don’t…”.

Notes:
①「〜てちょうだい」 is often used by women or kids.
②「〜てちょうだい」 is often used to someone who has a close relationship with you.
③In most cases,「〜てちょうだい」 is not used in formal situation.

Example Sentences:

バナナをてちょうだい
Please buy me banana.

ほんおしてちょうだい
Please teach me Japanese.

目覚めざましをセットしてちょうだい
Please set the time on the alarm.

そのかどひだりがってちょうだい
Please turn left at the corner.

せきもどてちょうだい
Please return to your seats.

おとなしくしていてちょうだい
Please stay nice and quiet.

もうここにはもどってこないでちょうだい
Please don’t come back here again.

べてるときは、ごとはなしをしないでちょうだい
Please don’t talk about business while we are eating.

くちししないでちょうだい
Please don’t interfere.
