Lesson 53: 〜ために

Usage:

Dictionary Form of Verb + ために
Noun + の + ために


Meaning:

「~ために」means “in order to…”; “to…”; “for…”; “for the sake of…”; “for the purpose of…”.
It’s used to express one’s aim/purpose/benefit.

Example Sentences:

かれ生活せいかつためにはたらく。
He works for his living.

きみために朝食ちょうしょくつくるよ。
I’ll make breakfast for you.

わたしためにこれをやって。
Just do this for me.

かれらはゆうためにたたかった。
They fought for freedom.

おもために写真しゃしんろう。
Let’s take a picture for memory’s sake.

彼女かのじょはバレーをならためにパリへった。
She went to Paris for the purpose of learning ballet.

その警察官けいさつかんしょうさがためにその部屋へや調しらべた。
The policeman went over the room in order to search for evidence.

いいせきためにわたしはやいえた。
I left home early to get a good seat.

かれはタクシーをめるためにげた。
He raised his hand to stop a taxi.

ほんべんきょうするためにほんいました。
I bought a book in order to study Japanese.
