Usage:

Te Form of Verb + いく
Meaning 1:
「〜ていく」is used to indicate that the direction of Verb is away from the speaker. |
Examples of Meaning 1:
鳥が飛んでいきました。 The bird flew away. 彼は急いで出ていった。 He went out in a hurry. 彼の愛は冷めていった。 His love grew cold. その男は逃げていった。 The man ran away. 彼女は階段を降りていった。 She went down the stairs. 崖からバスは落ちていった。 The bus went over the cliff. |
Meaning 2:
「〜ていく」is used to show, based on the present situation, how things will change in the future. |
Examples of Meaning 2:
日本語を学ぶ人が増えていきました。 The number of people learning Japanese has increased. どんなことがあっても、日本語の勉強を続けていきます。 I will continue learning Japanese no matter what happens. 日ごとに暖かくなっていく。 It is getting warmer day by day. 流行は古くなって消えていく。 Fashions grow old and die. 私たちは日ごとに年をとっていく。 We are getting older day by day. |
