Lesson 42: 必ず(かならず)〜

Usage:

かならず + Postive Expression

かならずしも + Negative Expression


Meaning:

かならず」means “…for sure”, “certainly”, “be bound to…”, “make sure…”, “don’t fail to…”, “always…”, “be sure to…”.

かならずしも…ない」means “not always…”. It’s often used with the form 「必ずしも…とはかぎらない」.

Example Sentences:

かならやります。
I’ll do it for sure.

かなら一緒いっしょくよ!
I will certainly come with you!

その計画けいかくかなら成功せいこうする。
The plan is bound to succeed.

りょうしゅうしょかならかんしてください。
Make sure you save the receipt.

5時ごじまでにはかならてください。
Don’t fail to come here by five.

かねちはかならずしもしあわせではない。
The rich are not always happy.

しょうじきかならずしもさいじょうさくとはかぎらない。
Honesty is not always the best policy.

ろん実際じっさいとはかならずしもいっしない。
Theory and practice do not always go together.

目的もくてきかならずしも手段しゅだん正当せいとうしない。
The end does not always justify the means.

てんほうかならずしもてになるとはかぎらない。
The weather forecast is not always reliable.
