Lesson 18: 〜なくてもいい

Usage:

Negative Form of Verb (drop the ない in the end) + なくてもいい


Meaning:

「~なくてもいい」means “don’t need to…”; “don’t have to…”.

Example Sentences:

いそなくてもいい
You don’t need to hurry.

こたなくてもいい
You don’t have to answer.

わたしはここにいなくてもいい
I don’t have to be here.

はやはしなくてもいい
You don’t have to run fast.

さいまでなくてもいい
You don’t have to stay to the end.

明日あしたなくてもいい
You don’t have to come tomorrow.

わけなくてもいい
You don’t have to make excuses.

大声おおごえなくてもいいこえるよ。
You don’t have to shout. I can hear you.

ひるごはんをってこなくてもいい
You don’t have to bring your lunch.

らいしゅうはボストンになくてもいい
You don’t need to go to Boston next week.
