Lesson 15: 〜ところだ

Usage:

Dictionary Form of Verb + ところだ/ところです

Meaning:

「～ところだ」means “be about to do something”; “be going to do something”.

Note:
「〜ところです」is the polite form of 「～ところだ」.

Example Sentences:

登校とうこうするところです。
I am going to school.

ボスを倒たおすところだ。
I’m about to kill the boss.

ここを離はなれるところです。
I’m about to leave here.

彼かれらは始はじめるところだ。
They are about to start.

角かどの劇げき場じょうに行いくところです。
I’m going to the theater on the corner.

今いまこのパソコンの使つかい方かたを説明せつめいするところだ。
I’m about to explain how to use this computer now.

彼女かのじょは日に本ほんへ帰かえるところです。
She is about to return to Japan.

弟おとうとは宿しゅく題だいをやるところだ。
My younger brother is about to do his homework.

母はははこの化け粧しょう品ひんを買かうところです。
My mother is about to buy this cosmetic.

田た中なかはお昼ひるを食たべに行いくところです。
Tanaka is about to go out for lunch.
