Lesson 23: 〜つづける

Usage: 

Polite Form of Verb(drop the ます in the end)+ つづける


Meaning:

「~つづける」means “keep doing something”, “go on doing something”, “continue doing something”.

Note:
「~つづける」is often written as 「〜つづける」. In order to help you get used to the kanji, the example sentences below are all written as 「〜つづける」.

Example Sentences:

おどつづけて
Keep dancing.

ほんつづけた
I continued reading the book.

かれはやりつづけた
He continued doing it.

うごつづましょう。
Let’s keep moving.

トムはあるつづけた
Tom continued walking.

あめみっかんつづけた
It rained continuously for three days.

かれなんかんつづけた
He kept waiting for hours and hours.

先生せんせいは2かんはなつづけた
The teacher went on talking for two hours.

トムはまどそとをじっとつづけた
Tom continued to stare out the window.

ピカソは91さいまでつづけた
Picasso kept drawing pictures until he was 91 years old.
