Lesson 74: もらう/いただく

Usage:

Noun + を + もらう/いただく


Meaning:

「もらう/いただく」means “to get something from somebody”.

Example Sentences:

ボーナスをもらった
I received my bonus.

かれ一等いっとうしょうをもらった
He got the first prize.

友人ゆうじんからがみをもらった
I received a letter from my friend.

労働者ろうどうしゃ給料きゅうりょうをもらうのは当然とうぜんだ。
It stands to reason that workers are paid.

あねからほんをもらった
I got a book from my elder sister.

処方箋しょほうせんをもらうためにしゃきなさい。
Go to the doctor to get your prescription!

ちょうからねんひんをいただきました
I received a souvenir from my boss.

らいしゅう二日ふつかかんのおやすをいただきたいのですが。
I’d like to take a couple of days off next week.

こたをいただきたいのです。
I’d like to have an answer.

先生せんせいからプレゼントをいただいた
I got a present from my teacher.

Note:

いただく is more humble than もらう,so いただく is often used to express that you get something from your superior.
