あげる/さしあげる

Usage:

Noun + を + あげる
Noun + を + さしあげる


Meaning:

あげる/さしあげる means “give…”.

How to use?
Giver + は + Receiver + に + Things + を + あげる
Giver + は + Receiver + に + Things + を + さしあげる

If the Giver is dropped, then it means the Giver is the speaker.

Examples:

ねこえさあげた
Have you fed the cat?

トムに大金たいきんあげた
I gave a lot of money to Tom.

トムはいぬみずあげた
Tom gave his dog water.

なか彼女かのじょほんあげた
Tanaka gave her a book.

だれほんあげるの?
Who will you give the book to?

なんでトムにおかねあげるの?
Why do you give money to Tom?

マイクのたんじょうに、あなたはなにあげましたか。
What did you give Mike on his birthday?

かねをみんなにあげました
I gave money to everyone.

わたしたちっているものをすべかれらにあげました
We gave them everything we had.

Note:

1.Don’t use あげる/さしあげる directly to your superior,it is rude!Instead,you can use something like ケーキをどうぞ。
2.But it will be perfectly fine to use it when you are talking with others what you did.

学生がくせい A:わたし先生せんせいにケーキさしあげました
Student A:I gave the teacher the cake.

学生がくせい B:今日きょう先生せんせいのおたんじょうですか。
Student B:Is today the teacher’s birthday?
