Lesson 56: 〜ようにする/ようにしている

Usage:

Dictionary Form of Verb + ようにする/ようにしている
Negative Form of Verb + ようにする/ようにしている

Meaning:

「Dictionary Form of Verb + ようにする」means “will try to do something”.
「Negative Form of Verb + ようにする」means “will try not to do something”.
「Dictionary Form of Verb + ようにしている」means “be trying to do something”.
「Negative Form of Verb + ようにしている」means “be trying not to do something”.

Example Sentences:

毎日まいにち運動うんどうするようにする。
I will try to exercise every day.

もっと気きを付つけるようにするよ。
I will try to be more careful.

できるだけ手て紙がみ書かくようにするよ。
I will try to write letters to you as often as I can.

８はち時じに起おきるようにします。
I will try to get up at 8am.

この問題もんだいを考かんがえないようにします。
I will try not to think about this.

あの店みせには行いかないようにしている。
I’m trying to avoid that shop.

あのことはなるべく考かんがえないようにしています。
I’m trying not to think about that.

私わたしたちは少すくなくとも一年いちねんに一回いっかいは集あつまるようにしている。
We’re all trying to get together at least once a year.

朝あさには牛乳ぎゅうにゅうを飲のむようにしている。
I’m trying to drink milk in the morning.

仕し事ごとがちゃんと公平こうへいに分配ぶんぱいされるようにしている。
We’re trying to make sure that the work is shared out equally.
