Usage:
Noun + を + あげる
Noun + を + さしあげる
Meaning:
あげる/さしあげる means “give…”. How to use? Giver + は + Receiver + に + Things + を + あげる Giver + は + Receiver + に + Things + を + さしあげる If the Giver is dropped, then it means the Giver is the speaker. |
Example Sentences:
猫に餌をあげた? Have you fed the cat? トムに大金をあげた。 I gave a lot of money to Tom. トムは犬に水をあげました。 Tom gave his dog water. 田中は彼女に本をあげました。 Tanaka gave her a book. 誰に本をあげるの? Who will you give the book to? なんでトムにお金をあげるの? Why do you give money to Tom? 去年彼にそれをあげましたか。 Did you give it to him last year? マイクの誕生日に、あなたは何をあげましたか。 What did you give Mike on his birthday? お金をみんなにあげました。 I gave money to everyone. 私たちが持っているものをすべて彼らにあげました。 We gave them everything we had. |
Notes:
①Don’t use あげる/さしあげる directly to your superior,it is rude!Instead,you can use something like ケーキをどうぞ。
②It will be perfectly fine to use it when you are talking with others what you did. (just like the example below.)
学生 A:私は先生にケーキをさしあげました。 Student A:I gave the teacher the cake. 学生 B:今日は先生のお誕生日ですか。 Student B:Is today the teacher’s birthday? |
