Lesson 32: 〜とか

Usage:

Dictionary Form of Verb + とか
Noun + とか


Meaning:

「~とか」is used to list one or more examples, and it means “and such…; such as”.
「~とか」can also be used to give some suggestions, and it means “How about…”.

Example Sentences:

明日あしたよるとかどう?
How about tomorrow night?

ドライブとかどう?
How about going for a drive?

なにしゅとかありますか。
Do you have some kind of hobby?

わたしはホルモンとかきです!
I like things like horumonyaki!

ファッションとかきょうある?
Are you interested in fashion and such?

らいしゅうようにバスツアーにとかどう?
What do you say to a bus tour next Saturday?

椅子いすとかはんにゅうはどうするの?
What will we do about getting chairs and such?

ときにはさんするとかしたほうがいいですよ。
It will be better to do something such as walking sometimes.

カバンにはほんとかはいっています。
There are things such as books in the bag.

ぼく高卒こうそつだからそのぶん高校こうこう問題もんだいとかできる。
I’m a high school graduate so I am that much able to answer high school problems and such.

Note:

If you want to list more examples (not only one example), you can make sentences like below.

ファッションとかメイクとかきょうある?
Are you interested in fashion, make-up and such?

椅子いすとかテーブルとかはんにゅうはどうするの?
What will we do about getting tables, chairs and such?
