Lesson 23: 〜つづける

Usage:

Polite Form of Verb（drop the ます in the end）+ つづける

Meaning:

「～つづける」means “keep doing something”, “go on doing something”, “continue doing something”.

Note:
「～つづける」is often written as 「〜続つづける」. In order to help you get used to the kanji, the example sentences below are all written as 「〜続つづける」.

Example Sentences:

踊おどり続つづけて。
Keep dancing.

本ほんを読よみ続つづけた。
I continued reading the book.

彼かれはやり続つづけた。
He continued doing it.

動うごき続つづけましょう。
Let’s keep moving.

トムは歩あるき続つづけた。
Tom continued walking.

雨あめが三みっ日か間かん降ふり続つづけた。
It rained continuously for three days.

彼かれは何なん時じ間かんも待まち続つづけた。
He kept waiting for hours and hours.

先生せんせいは２時じ間かん話はなし続つづけた。
The teacher went on talking for two hours.

トムは窓まどの外そとをじっと見み続つづけた。
Tom continued to stare out the window.

ピカソは９１歳さいまで絵えを描かき続つづけた。
Picasso kept drawing pictures until he was 91 years old.
