Lesson 15: 〜ところだ

Usage: 

Dictionary Form of Verb + ところだ/ところです


Meaning:

「~ところだ」means “be about to do something”; “be going to do something”.

Note:
「〜ところです」is the polite form of 「~ところだ」.

Example Sentences:

登校とうこうするところです
I am going to school.

ボスをたおところだ
I’m about to kill the boss.

ここをはなれるところです
I’m about to leave here.

かれらははじめるところだ
They are about to start.

かどげきじょうところです
I’m going to the theater on the corner.

いまこのパソコンの使つかかた説明せつめいするところだ
I’m about to explain how to use this computer now.

彼女かのじょほんかえところです
She is about to return to Japan.

おとうと宿しゅくだいをやるところだ
My younger brother is about to do his homework.

はははこのしょうひんところです
My mother is about to buy this cosmetic.

なかはおひるべにところです
Tanaka is about to go out for lunch.
