Lesson 10: 〜(よ)うが〜まいが/〜(よ)うと〜まいと

Usage:

Type-1 Verb & Type-2 Verb:
Volitional Form of Verb + が + Dictionary Form + が
Volitional Form of Verb + と + Dictionary Form + まい + と
 
Type-3 Verb:
Volitional Form of Verb + が + Dictionary Form(change する to しまい) + が
Volitional Form of Verb + と + Dictionary Form(change する to しまい) + と


Meaning:

「〜(よ)うが〜まいが/〜(よ)うと〜まいと」means “Whether … or not”.

Examples:

雨あめが降ふろうが降ふるまいが、出でかけるつもりだ。
Whether it rains or not, I will go out.
 
夏休なつやすみのキャンプに参さん加かしようとしまいと、皆みなの自じ由ゆうだ。
It’s your freedom whether you want to join the summer camp or not.
