Meaning

In Japanese,遊 means “to play”.

Kunyomi:あそ
Onyomi:ゆう

Kunyomi:
遊(あそ)ぶ→to play
 
Onyomi:
遊園地(ゆうえんち)→amusement park

Origin:

You can see a 子 and a flag in 遊.
It means that kids like to play games. and they need a flag as the award.
So 遊 means “to play”.
 
Note: There are some difference between Chinese kanji and Japanese kanji. You should use Japanese kanji.(Which has a 辶 on the left part.)
