Meaning

In Japanese,絵 means “painting”.

How to read it:

Kunyomi:None
Onyomi:え、かい

Onyomi:
絵(え)を描(か)く→to draw a picture
絵画(かいが)→painting

Origin:

You can see the thread and 会. 会う means “to meet”. So you can remember this kanji by “If you show this thread when we met, I will give you this painting.”
 
Note: There is some difference  between Chinese kanji and Japanese kanji. You should use Japanese kanji(Which has a 糸 on the left.)
