Meaning

In Japanese,炭 means “charcoal”.

Kunyomi:すみ
Onyomi:たん

炭(すみ)を使(つか)ってBBQをしよう!→Let’s have a BBQ using Charcoal!
 
Onyomi:
石炭(せきたん)→coal

Origin:

Note: There is some difference between Chinese kanji and Japanese kanji. You should use Japanese kanji. (Which has a 厂 above the 火)
