Meaning

In Japanese,歴 means “experience”.

How to read it:

Kunyomi:Not often used
Onyomi:れき

Onyomi:
歴史(れきし)→history
学歴(がくれき)→educational background
職歴(しょくれき)→work experience
履歴(りれき)→personal history
履歴書(りれきしょ)→resume

Origin:

You can see two trees and a foot.
So you can remember this kanji by “This guy has the experience of crossing this forest alone.”
 
Note: There is some difference between Chinese kanji and Japanese kanji. You should use Japanese kanji(Which has a 林 in the middle.)
