Lesson 43: 〜たところで

Usage:

Past Tense Form of Verb + ところで


Meaning:

「〜たところで」means “no matter how…/even though”.

Examples:

どんなにいっしょう懸命けんめいはたらいたところで、生活せいかつらくにならないだろう。
The life won’t be easy no matter how hard you work.
 
もともとべんきょうするがないのなら、大学だいがくったところでなに意味いみがあるのか。
If you don’t want to study, what’s the point even though you went to the college?
