Lesson 34: 〜次第だ/次第で(は)

Usage 1:

①Past Tense Form of Verb + だいだ/だい
②i-Adj + だいだ/だい
③na-Adj + な + だいだ/だい


Meaning of Usage 1:

「〜だいだ/だいで(は)」means “due to/because…”.
It’s used to explain something.

Examples of Usage 1:

じょうのようなだいで、らいしゅう社員しゃいん旅行りょこうえんにさせていただきます。
Due to the reasons above, next week’s employee trip will be postponed.
 
ちちびょうのため、じっ豆腐とうふいだだいだ。
I will take over the tofu shop because of my father’s illness.

Usage 2:

Noun + だいだ/だいで(は)


Meaning of Usage 2:

だいだ/だいで(は)」means “depends on…”; “up to…”.

Examples of Usage 2:

明日あしたハイキングにくかどうかは、てんだいだ。
It depends on the weather whether to go hiking tomorrow or not.
 
このぎょう成功せいこうするかはきみだいだよ!
The success of this business is up to you!

Notes:

だいで is used in the middle of sentence.
だいだ is used in the end of sentence.
