Usage:
①Dictionary Form of Verb + 上は
②Past Tense Form of Verb + 上は
Meaning:
| 「〜上は」means “As long as…”. Japanese Explanation: 〜なのだから、当然・・・。 ①かなり硬い表現 ②追い詰められた状況、決意・覚悟を言う時に使われる。 |
Examples:
| 国を離れ日本に住む上は、十分な覚悟が必要である。 You need to be prepared as long as you leave your country and live in Japan. 留学すると決心した上は、必ず成果を出して見せる。 I will show you the achievement as long as I decided to study abroad. 校長が来年から教科書を変更すると決断した上は、私たち教師は指示に従いやるしかない。 留学すると決心した上は、必ず成果を出して見せる。 国を離れ日本に住む上は、十分な覚悟が必要である。 秘密を知られた上は、生かしてはおけない。 プロジェクトリーダーに選ばれた上は、必ず成功させてみせる。 |
