Lesson 34: 〜次第だ/次第で（は）

Usage 1:

①Past Tense Form of Verb + 次し第だいだ/次し第だいで
②i-Adj + 次し第だいだ/次し第だいで
③na-Adj + な + 次し第だいだ/次し第だいで

Meaning of Usage 1:

「〜次し第だいだ/次し第だいで（は）」means “due to/because…”.
It’s used to explain something.

Examples of Usage 1:

以い上じょうのような次し第だいで、来らい週しゅうの社員しゃいん旅行りょこうは延えん期きにさせていただきます。
Due to the reasons above, next week’s employee trip will be postponed.

父ちちが病びょう気きのため、実じっ家かの豆腐とうふ屋やを引ひき継ついだ次し第だいだ。
I will take over the tofu shop because of my father’s illness.

Usage 2:

Noun + 次し第だいだ/次し第だいで（は）

Meaning of Usage 2:

「次し第だいだ/次し第だいで（は）」means “depends on…”; “up to…”.

Examples of Usage 2:

明日あしたハイキングに行いくかどうかは、天てん気き次し第だいだ。
It depends on the weather whether to go hiking tomorrow or not.

この事じ業ぎょうが成功せいこうするかは君きみ次し第だいだよ！
The success of this business is up to you!

Notes:

①次し第だいで is used in the middle of sentence.
②次し第だいだ is used in the end of sentence.
