Usage:
Te Form of Verb + ください
Negative Form of Verb + でください
Meaning:
~てください → Please do something. ~ないでください → Please don’t do something. Notes: ①If you forget Te Form of Verb, you can click here to review it. ②If you forget Negative Form of Verb, you can click here to review it. ③ください can be written as 下さい, they are the same. But ください is more often used. |
Example Sentences:
探してください。 Please look for it. 助けてください。 Please help me. 頑張ってください。 Please do your best. 口を開けてください。 Please open your mouth. 説明してください。 Please explain it. 撃たないでください! Please don’t shoot! 動かないでください。 Please don’t move. 忘れないでください。 Please don’t forget. 行かないでください。 Please don’t leave. 心配しないでください。 Please don’t worry. |
Note:
Don’t use ~てください to your superiors and strangers because it is not polite enough(It’s polite enough when you use it to your friends)
Instead, you can use ~てくださいませんか to your superiors and strangers.
道を教えてくださいませんか。 Could you please tell me how to get there? 声を小さくしてくださいませんか? Could you please lower your voice? あの窓をしめてくださいませんか。 Could you please close that window? |
