Lesson 9: ~てください/~ないでください

Usage:

Te Form of Verb + ください
Negative Form of Verb + でください


Meaning:

~てください  → Please do something.
~ないでください  → Please don’t do something.

Notes:
①If you forget Te Form of Verb, you can click here to review it.
②If you forget Negative Form of Verb, you can click here to review it.
③ください can be written as ください, they are the same. But ください is more often used.

Example Sentences:

さがてください
Please look for it.

たすてください
Please help me.

がんてください
Please do your best.

くちてください
Please open your mouth.

説明せつめいてください
Please explain it.

ないでください
Please don’t shoot!

うごないでください
Please don’t move.

わすないでください
Please don’t forget.

ないでください
Please don’t leave.

心配しんぱいないでください
Please don’t worry.

Note:

Don’t use ~てください to your superiors and strangers because it is not polite enough(It’s polite enough when you use it to your friends)
Instead, you can use ~てくださいませんか to your superiors and strangers.

みちおしてくださいませんか
Could you please tell me how to get there?

こえちいさくしてくださいませんか
Could you please lower your voice?

あのまどをしめてくださいませんか
Could you please close that window?
