〜ている

In this lesson, I will teach you how to use the grammar rule 〜ている.


Usage:

Te Form of Verb + いる/います

Note: 〜ています is the polite form of ている.

Meanings:

Meaning 1: 〜ている means someone is doing something now.

Meaning 2: 〜ている means someone do something usually (as a hobby or something).

Meaning 3: 〜ている can be used to describe current state.


Example of Meaning 1:

かれはなています
He is talking.

Example of Meaning 2:

なにかスポーツをしていますか。
Are you playing any sports?

Example of Meaning 3:

せきているよ。
The seat is open.

    彼女は運転している。She is driving.
    ニナは話しています。Nina is talking.

    Meaning 2:
    何スボーツをしているの?
    私はテニスをしている。I do Tennis (My hobby)

    Meaning 3:
    あの人は死んでいる。That person is dead.
    リリはいろいろな本を読んでいる。Lili is reading various of books.
    キャミはいろいろなゲームをやっている。Cammy is playing various of games.
