Usage 1:

Noun + 中ちゅう

Meaning of Usage 1:

Noun + 中ちゅう：in the middle of doing something

Example Phrases of Usage 1:

運転中	うんてんちゅう	in the middle of driving
お話し中	おはなしちゅう	in the middle of talking
会議中	かいぎちゅう	in the middle of meeting
営業中	えいぎょうちゅう	be open(shop, etc)
検討中	けんとうちゅう	be under consideration
工事中	こうじちゅう	be under construction
出張中	しゅっちょうちゅう	be away on business
食事中	しょくじちゅう	in the middle of eating
調査中	ちょうさちゅう	be under investigation
電話中	でんわちゅう	in the middle of talking on the phone
勉強中	べんきょうちゅう	be learning
休み中	やすみちゅう	in the middle of vacation

Example Sentences of Usage 1:

仕し事ごと中ちゅうなの？
Are you at work?

まだ仕し事ごと中ちゅう？
Are you still at work?

今いま仕し事ごと中ちゅうなので、後あとで電でん話わします。
I’m at work now, so I’ll call you later.

彼かれは今いま会かい議ぎ中ちゅうです。
He is in conference now.

お話はなし中ちゅうすみません。
I’m sorry to interrupt you while you’re talking.

食しょく事じ中ちゅうに携帯けいたいを見みるのはやめなさい。
Please don’t look at your cellphone while we’re eating.

トムはメアリーと電でん話わ中ちゅうです。
Tom is talking to Mary on the phone.

Usage 2:

Time + 中ちゅう

Meaning of Usage 2:

Time + 中ちゅう：by the end of…/ in…

Example Phrases of Usage 2:

三月中	さんがつちゅう	by the end of March/ in March
午前中	ごぜんちゅう	by the end of morning/ in the morning
今月中	こんげつちゅう	by the end of this month/ in this month

Exceptions:
今日中	きょうじゅう	by the end of today/ today
今週中	こんしゅうちゅう・こんしゅうじゅう	by the end of this week / this week

Example Sentences of Usage 2:

彼かれは午ご前ぜん中ちゅうに起おきた。
He got up in the morning.

結婚式けっこんしきは午ご前ぜん中ちゅうに行おこなわれた。
The wedding ceremony was performed in the morning.

彼かれは午ご前ぜん中ちゅうに本ほんを読よんでいた。
He read a book all morning.

Meaning of Usage 3:

I cannot live in water. I’m not a fish.

空くう気き中ちゅうの酸さん素そは水みずに溶解ようかいする。
Oxygen in the air dissolves in water.
