Usage 1:

Number + ずつ

Meaning of Usage 1:

「Number + ずつ」means “one（or more） each/one（or more） for each”.

Example Sentences of Usage 1:

３さん個こずつください。
Please give me three of each kind.

１人ひとりずつバスに乗のりなさい。
Get on the bus one by one.

卵たまごを一いちダースずつつめなさい。
Pack eggs in dozens.

どうぞ一人ひとりずつお入はいりください。
Please come in one by one.

メアリーは卵たまごを一ひとつずつ取とり出だした。
Mary took out the eggs one by one.

Practice:

Try to read and translate the sentences below.

３個ずつください。
１人ずつバスに乗りなさい。
卵を一ダースずつつめなさい。
どうぞ一人ずつお入りください。
メアリーは卵を一つずつ取り出した。

Usage 2:

少すこし + ずつ
Number + ずつ

Meaning of Usage 2:

「少すこし + ずつ」「Number + ずつ」 means “little by little, bit by bit, one by one (repeat by the same amount or degree)”.

Note: 少すこし means “a little”, it’s an adverb.

Example Sentences of Usage 2:

緑みどりの葉はが少すこしずつ出でてきている。
Green leaves are coming out little by little.

彼かれは少すこしずつよくなっています。
He is getting better bit by bit.

一ひとつずつ、漢かん字じを学まなんでいます。
I’m learning kanji one by one.

トムの日に本ほん語ごは少すこしずつ進しん歩ぽしている。
Tom’s Japanese is improving little by little.

私わたしは少すこしずつ自じ分ぶんの目もく標ひょうを実現じつげんさせます。
I will accomplish my purpose little by little.

彼は少しずつよくなっています。
一つずつ、漢字を学んでいます。
