Lesson 14: 〜にする・くする

Usage 1:

①i-Adj：change い to く and add する in the end.
②na-Adj + にする
③Noun + にする

Meaning of Usage 1:

「〜にする・くする」 is used to express that the subject wants to change something or someone.

Example Sentences of Usage 1:

楽らくにしてね。
Make yourself at home.

静かにしてください。
Please be quiet.

この料りょう理りを半分はんぶんにしました。
I divided this dish to two parts.

内緒ないしょにしてください。
Please keep this a secret.

好すきにしてください。
Do what you like.

彼女かのじょは声こえを大おおきくした。
She raised her voice.

テレビの音おとを小ちいさくしてもらえませんか。
Could you please turn your television down?

Usage 2:

①Noun + にする
②Dictionary Form of Verb + こと + にする

Meaning of Usage 2:

「〜にする」is used to express that the subject decided to do something or buy something.

Example Sentences of Usage 2:

彼かれは法律ほうりつをやめて美び術じゅつをやることにしました。
He decided to abandon law for art.

大学だいがくでフランス語ごを専攻せんこうすることにしました。
I’ve decided to major in French in college.

自じ分ぶんですることにした。
I’ve decided to do that by myself.

私わたしは行いくことにした。
I’ve decided to go.

これにします。
I will buy this.

このパソコンにします。
I will buy this computer.
