Lesson 23: 〜場合（ばあい）

Usage:

①Verb（Dictionary Form， Past Tense Form，Negative Form…） + 場ば合あい
②i-Adj + 場ば合あい
③na-Adj + な + 場ば合あい
④Noun + の + 場ば合あい

Meaning:

「〜場ば合あい」means “If…; In case…”.

Example Sentences:

雨あめの場ば合あい私わたしは行いかない。
If it’s raining, I won’t go.

明日あした、雨あめ降ふる場ば合あいは車くるまで行いきます。
If it’s raining tomorrow, we’ll go by car.

万一まんいちの場ば合あいはここへ電でん話わをください。
In case of an emergency, phone me at this number.

緊きん急きゅうの場ば合あいは、１１９番ばんに電でん話わしなさい。
In case of an emergency, call 119.

何なにか事故じこでもあった場ば合あいにはすぐ電報でんぽうをください。
Wire me at once, in case there should be an accident.

来これない場ば合あいは、できるだけ早はやく連絡れんらくしてください。
If you can’t make it, call us as soon as possible.

頭あたまが痛いたい場ば合あい、薬くすりを飲のんでください。
Please take medicine if you have a headache.

お金かねの支し払はらいが困難こんなんな場ば合あい、私わたしに電でん話わしてください。
Please call me if you have difficulty paying for the money.

雨う天てんの場ば合あい、試し合あいは中ちゅう止しとなります。
If it rains, the game will be called off.

初はじめてのご注ちゅう文もんの場ば合あいには、５％の特別とくべつ値ね引びきをいたします。
We will offer a special discount of 5% if it’s your first order.

旅行りょこうを計画けいかくする場ば合あいは、家か族ぞく全員ぜんいんの希き望ぼうを考慮こうりょすべきだ。
We must take into account the wishes of all the family in planning a trip.

Note:

「〜場ば合あい」is often used to express something not good.
