Lesson 34: ぜひ~

Usage:

ぜひ + Verb


Meaning:

①You use 「ぜひ〜」 to yourself when you want to express that you have a strong desire to do something.「ぜひ〜」 means “really; definitely” here.

②You use 「ぜひ〜」 to someone else when you really really want someone to do something. 「ぜひ〜」 means “please” here.

③You can use 「ぜひ」 directly, it means “By all means”.

Example Sentences:

ぜひてください。
Do come by all means.

ぜひかせてください。
I am all ears.

ぜひきょうくべきだよ。
You should visit Kyoto.

ぜひそれをやってみなさい。
Try it by all means.

イタリアにぜひってみたい。
I do want to go to Italy.

わたしぜひあなたと一緒いっしょきたい。
I do want to go with you.

彼女かのじょぜひそこへきたいとった。
She said that she was eager to go there.

らいしゅうぜひゆうしょくをごそうさせてください。
Would you please allow me to treat you to dinner next week?

ボブはぜひけん合格ごうかくしたいとおもっている。
Bob is keen to pass the examination.

今回こんかいかいぜひしゅっせきしてください。
Please attend this meeting.

A:わたしさんしてもいいですか。
A:Can I join?

B:ええ、ぜひ
B:By all means.
