Lesson 34: ぜひ～

Usage:

ぜひ + Verb

Meaning:

①You use 「ぜひ〜」 to yourself when you want to express that you have a strong desire to do something.「ぜひ〜」 means “really” here.

②You use 「ぜひ〜」 to someone else when you really really want someone to do something. 「ぜひ〜」 means “please” here.

③You can use 「ぜひ」 directly, it means “By all means”.

Example Sentences:

ぜひ来きてください。
Do come by all means.

ぜひ聞きかせてください。
I am all ears.

ぜひ京きょう都とへ行いくべきだよ。
You should visit Kyoto.

ぜひそれをやってみなさい。
Try it by all means.

イタリアにぜひ行いってみたい。
I do want to go to Italy.

私わたしはぜひあなたと一緒いっしょに行いきたい。
I do want to go with you.

彼女かのじょはぜひそこへ行いきたいと言いった。
She said that she was eager to go there.

来らい週しゅう、ぜひ夕ゆう食しょくをご馳ち走そうさせてください。
Would you please allow me to treat you to dinner next week?

ボブはぜひ試し験けんに合格ごうかくしたいと思おもっている。
Bob is keen to pass the examination.

今回こんかいの会かい議ぎはぜひ出しゅっ席せきしてください。
Please attend this meeting.

A:私わたしも参さん加かしてもいいですか。
A:Can I join?

B:ええ、ぜひ。
B:By all means.
