Lesson 26: 〜ほかに（は）

Usage:

Noun + の + ほかに（は）

Meaning:

「Noun + の + ほかに（は）」means
（1）「Noun + の + ほかに（は）」 + Positive Expression：”…besides Noun; …as well as Noun; …in addition to”.
（2）「Noun + の + ほかに（は）」 + Negative Expression：…but Noun

Please note that ほか can be also written as 他ほか. The difference is that 他ほか is more formal than ほか.

Example Sentences:

ぺんの他ほかに、何なにか必要ひつようですか。
What do you need besides a pen?

野や球きゅうの他ほかには、テニスもできます。
I can also play tennis besides baseball.

ここには荒こう野やの他ほかに何なにもありません。
There was nothing here but remote wilderness.

霧きりの他ほかには何なにも見みえなかった。
We could see nothing but fog.

ピアノの他ほかに何なにか楽がっ器きやってる？
Do you play any other instruments besides the piano?

トムは英えい語ごの他ほかにドイツ語ごも話はなせる。
Tom can speak German as well as English.

私わたしのほかには誰だれも行いかなかった。
Nobody went but me.

君きみのほかに頼たよる人ひとがいない.
I have no one but you to turn to for help.

ここには私わたしのほかに誰だれもいない。
There’s no one but me here.

あなたは仕し事ごとのほかに何なにをやってるんですか？
