Lesson 17: 〜てある

Usage:

Noun + は + Te Form of Verb + ある/あります

Note: あります is the polite form of ある.


Meaning:

「〜てある」 is used when the result of an intentional action still affects the current state or the result exists until the moment when the speaker describes it.

Example Sentences:

わたしまえはここにてあります
My name is written here.

地図ちずかべてある
The map is on the wall.

きょうかいまえくるまてあります
There is a car in front of the church.

ようじゅん番号ばんごうてある
Each sheet bears a number in sequence.

彼女かのじょくるまはぴかぴかにみがてあります
Her car has a nice polish.

わたしいえにはさいけんがかけてある
My house is covered by insurance.

そのゆかにはあついじゅうたんがてあります
The floor is covered with a thick carpet.

月曜げつようしゃやくてあるんですよ。
I have a dentist appointment on Monday.

これらのほんはショーウィンドウにかざてあります
Those books are on display in the window.

このビルには、スプリンクラーがせってある
This building has sprinklers.
