Lesson 17: 〜てある

Usage:

Noun + は + Te Form of Verb + ある/あります

Note: あります is the polite form of ある.

Meaning:

「〜てある」 is used when the result of an intentional action still affects the current state or the result exists until the moment when the speaker describes it.

Example Sentences:

私わたしの名な前まえはここに書かいてあります。
My name is written here.

地図ちずは壁かべに貼はってある。
The map is on the wall.

教きょう会かいの前まえに車くるまが置おいてあります。
There is a car in front of the church.

用よう紙しは順じゅんに番号ばんごうが打うってある。
Each sheet bears a number in sequence.

彼女かのじょの車くるまはぴかぴかに磨みがいてあります。
Her car has a nice polish.

私わたしの家いえには火か災さい保ほ険けんがかけてある。
My house is covered by insurance.

その床ゆかには厚あついじゅうたんが敷しいてあります。
The floor is covered with a thick carpet.

月曜げつよう日びは歯は医い者しゃの予よ約やくを入いれてあるんですよ。
I have a dentist appointment on Monday.

これらの本ほんはショーウィンドウに飾かざってあります。
Those books are on display in the window.

このビルには、スプリンクラーが設せっ置ちしてある。
This building has sprinklers.
