Meaning

In Japanese,着 means “to put on or to arrive”.

Onyomi:ちゃく

着(き)る→to put on
着(つ)く→to arrive

Onyomi:
到着(とうちゃく)する→to arrive

Origin:

It will be hard to remember it by the origin of 着. So I will think of a way to help you remember it.
着=羊+目。
羊 means “sheep”,目 means “eye”.
So you can remember 着 as a fly arrive at the eye of sheep.
