Meaning

In Japanese, 体 means “body”.

How to read it:

Kunyomi:からだ
Onyomi:たい、てい

How to write it:

How to use it:

Kunyomi:
体(からだ)→body

Onyomi:
身体(しんたい)→body
体裁(ていさい)→format

Origin:

It will be hard for you to remember this kanji by the origin because it changed too much. However, I will think of a way to help you remember it.
体 = 人 + 本。
人 means “person”, 本 means “book”. When a person read many books, these books will become part of his or her body. So 体 stands for “body”.
Now you can remember it easier.
