Lesson 4: Negative Form
In this lesson，I will teach you how to convert Japanese verbs to Negative Form.
| Verb Type | How to convert? |
| Type-1 Verb | change the u-hiragana to the a-hiragana in the same column, and add ない in the end. Example: 書く→書かない Exception: when the verb is something like ○う（会う、買う，you need to change the う to わ，like 会わない、買わない） |
| Type-2 Verb | change the る in the end to ない Example: 食べる→食べない |
| Type-3 Verb | change the する in the end to しない Example: 勉強する→勉強しない |
| Irregular Verb | する→しない 来る→来ない |
Note:
| Form | How to convert? |
| Plain Negative Past Tense Form | change ない to なかった Examples: 会わない→会わなかった 食べない→食べなかった 勉強しない→勉強しなかった |
| Polite Negative Past Tense Form | change ます to ませんでした Examples: 会います→会いませんでした 食べます→食べませんでした 勉強します→勉強しませんでした |
Exception:
| ある is the only exception. Its Negative Form is ない. |
| 彼はお金がある。 He has money. 彼はお金がない。 He doesn’t have money. 彼はお金がなかった。 He didn’t have money. 彼はお金がありませんでした。 He didn’t have money. |
Examples:

| 飲む | のむ | 飲まない |
| やる | やる | やらない |
| 食べる | たべる | 食べない |
| 勉強する | べんきょうする | 勉強しない |
| する | する | しない |
| 来る | くる | 来（こ）ない |
Example Sentences:
| 私は仕事をしない。 I don’t work. 彼はお酒を飲まない。 He doesn’t drink alcohol. 彼女は野菜を食べなかった。 She didn’t eat vegetable. 私の友達は日本語を勉強しない。 My friends don’t learn Japanese. 彼の母は家事をしない。 His mother doesn’t do housework. |

I just did Negative Form Test. The question is ある, I chose あらない but the correct answer was ない. Can you explain to me?

u could just do them after a lesson and go back to do the second lesson
I have a question, about ある, it’s as a verb or form? Can i use that to sentence when I spoke? Because we know sometimes a sentence in spoken and writing different
ある is a Verb.
Example:
わたしはお金（かね）があります。（I have money.）
