In this lesson, I will teach you how to use the particle から.

Function 1: Starting Point

If you want to express the starting point(time/space), you can use something like below.

Starting Point + から

Example Sentences:

私わたしは日本にほんから来きました。
I came from Japan.

彼かれは教きょう室しつから出でました。
He got out of the classroom.

あしたから夏休なつやすみです。
Tomorrow is Summer vacation.

来年らいねんから大学だいがくに行いきます。
I will go to college from next year.

Function 2: The Giver of Things or Information

If you want to mark the giver of things or information, you can use something like below.

Giver + から + Verb
Giver + から + の + Noun

Example Sentences:

田た中なかさんから本ほんをもらいました。
I got a book from Mr. Tanaka.

先生せんせいから質問しつもんを出だしました。
The teacher asked a question.

私わたしから説明せつめいします。
I will explain it.

友達ともだちから電話でんわが来きた。
My friend called me.

これは姉あねからのプレゼントです。
This is a gift from my older sister.
